This is a very rare and unique stock. It was found as you see it, stored in with some UNISSUED, late 1950's M1 Grand stocks. The stock has never been used and still has the VCI wrapping around the metal parts to prevent rusting. This stock is a very early stock that was used on the T44E4 and the very early M14. It dates to the late1950's and early 1960's when the military was developing a rifle to replace the M1 Garand. This stock is very similar to the later M14 stocks except the rear of the stock is designed to use the standard M1 Buttplate rather than the hinged buttplate adopted on the M14 later on. This is a rare piece of M14 history. You just dont find stocks like this that tell the story of the development of a main rifle like the M14. I really wish I could find an M1 garand stock from early development like this... Add these items to your order with no extra shipping! |
