They were made during WWII and have never been installed on a rifle, or removed from the box. The checkering and finish is pristine.
I included a pic of the packing slip where Remington packed them "June 1 1944". A few days after these were packed ,the workers would be listening to the DDay landing news on the radio. These 03A3 buttplates were never unwrapped.
These 1903 A3 buttplates are covered in thick, goey grease. I cleaned off the butt plate pictured so you could see what they look like. You will receive one in the green greasy wrap shown.
They have the original blued finish and have an "R" stamped on the back side.
These 03A3 Remington buttplates are in Mint condition. Dont settle for dented and refinished items for your 1903A3. This is a chance to get exactly what was used in WWII.
*** The best way I have found to remove the grease is low heat. The grease will wipe right off when heated and you dont have to use any chemicals.***
