This is a new, old stock, USGI clip latch that was used in M1 Garand rifles. They are removed from the original VCI wrapping. If you have a worn M1 Garand clip latch you can get it refinished, or you can buy one that was used at the factory that meets original specs with no wear. Some other parts dealers refinish small parts like this and call them new. I guarentee these are the original M1 Garand clip latches from the wrap, with the original finish.
