These M1 Carbine stock sets were removed from rifles before they were destroyed by the Government. They appear to be taken from rifles that were in great condition. Mostly they just show minor handling wear (and lots of dust and dirt) from being in the boxes together for years.
These M1 Carbine stock sets are the type 5 stock and they have the cutout for the selector. These are the exact stocks that were used at the various rebuild facilities to bring M1 carbines back up to military specifications. They have several different markings from the different rebuild locations.
These M1 carbine stocks are made of beautiful WALNUT. There are no cracks splits or repairs, however there may be some slight rub marks on the side from being in the boxes together. The stocks have been stored in an open warehouse and have lots of dirt in them, so I would suggest wiping them out and coating them with pure tung oil or the finish of your choice.
The stock has had all of the metal removed except for the bottom piece thet the recoil plate screws into. They were found this way. They DO NOT have the buttplate, recoil plate or front band spring.
These M1 carbine stocks include a walnut handguard to make a set!
The Original USGI handguards are walnut and are mostly Inland marked. There will be some different marked ones as well. I will try to send one that is a similar color and grain as the stock.
These M1 Carbine stock sets are very nice.
